Here's some transportation tips for traveling around town.

If you're moving off campus and need to find a way back, here are some transportation tips. Columbia offers discounted bus fares for students (and there's free Wi-Fi on the buses), as well as various taxi services. If you don't quite know which route to take, check out this breakdown:
Blue Route and Green Route These routes run east and west and can get you to the Columbia Mall or your rental property in north Columbia in the areas of Clark Lane, Highway 63, Paris Road or Business Loop 70.
Gold Route This is a relatively new bus route primarily intended for MU students. It makes stops at Campus Lodge, The Reserve, Campus View and Gateway to bring students to campus.
Red Route If you live along Broadway, this could be the one for you. Also, if you're without a car, it runs east and west and stops at both Walmart locations on Broadway.
Brown Route This takes you from campus to the Wabash Station to transfer to any other route to get you to your destination.
Yellow Route This goes from Wabash Station south on Providence Road into the Rock Bridge/Nifong area, which includes many student apartments. There are also a few grocery stores and fast food restaurants out that way.
Orange Route The south route is similar to the Yellow Route, but this also has a north route that goes around Vandiver Drive.
FastPass Students may also purchase half-fare passes called FastPass for 30-day unlimited rides, 25-ride or seven-day passes. Passes are good on all Columbia Transit buses. You can purchase a pass from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday at Wabash Station.
Bringing your bicycle You may bring your bicycle on city buses. All Columbia Transit buses are equipped with bike racks and can hold two bikes at a time. City bus employees aren't allowed to load or unload your bike, so if you need directions on how to do so, go to gocolumbiamo.com/publicworks/transportation.
STRIPES The student-run safe driving program operates 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. You can call 573-442-9672 for a ride. STRIPES drivers are MU student volunteers who will pick up or drop off anywhere within Columbia city limits, but they won't drop you off at a party, bar, gas station or intersection. Free with a student ID.
Taxi services The wait for STRIPES can be long at times, but there are a few taxi services in Columbia as well. Although it's not free, the average cost of a ride is about $4.
