South Hall

North/Center/South Residence Hall

When South Hall comes to mind, think two things: athletes and heavenly dorm rooms.

The location of South is excellent in its proximity to any Mizzou athletic event, making it an ideal place to live for students who live, eat and breathe black and gold, including student athletes. However, when getting up to go to a 9 a.m. class, the walk can seem a little long, since South Hall is nudged in the back southwest corner of campus.

The whole hall is suite-style, so residents have the option of having a single room in a suite, or being in a double with a living room attached—or to go a little cheaper, just having their own personal bathroom. Whichever way students choose, they are sure to get their money’s worth with the dorms’ spacious rooms. Plus, having a dorm with a living room is excellent for hosting friends.

The only downside to having a suite-style dorm is that South does not have the community feel to the extent of other dorms such as Hatch or Schurz Halls with their community bathrooms. Residents wanting a heavy dorm social life really have to be outgoing to meet other people within this hall.

The closest dining hall to South is Pavilion at Dobbs, which is convenient, yet the food in comparison to places like Plaza can get old due to its lack of variety. The laundry room is nice, especially with its attached study room, but can get crowded and Saturdays and Sundays like most other residence halls. What is really convenient about South aside from its proximity to Faurot Field is the Mizzou Market in Center Hall, which is right next to South.

A downfall of living in a hall like South is the cost of the rooms, but their suite style makes it worth the higher price. It is really nice having the ability to have a group of people over into your suite or living room because they are so much more spacious than a typical dorm double.
