Located in the southeastern corner of campus, Hatch Hall is nestled across the bridge at College Avenue alongside Schurz and College Avenue residence halls.
Home to Journalism and Major and Career Exploration learning communities and a multitude of Freshman Interest Groups in the same fields, Hatch is full of students interested in the same topics.
Renovated in 2007, Hatch is up to date and comfortable, though it does lack some character. The rooms are small and heavy doors automatically shut, which makes it harder to stay social. It’s also a long walk to classes on the Francis Quadrangle.
Although located on a far corner of campus, Hatch is surrounded by other residence halls and food options. Baja Grill is in Bingham Hall, which is attached to the Hatch lobby, and just across the bridge over College Avenue is Plaza 900. A few more minutes walking and you’re at the MU Student Recreation Complex and Mizzou Market at Pershing Commons. If one doesn't want to brave the long walk to downtown and its popular restaurants, the famous Buck’s Ice Cream Place is right next door, so it’s just a quick jog to get its famous Tiger Stripe ice cream.
One serious downfall to living at Hatch is the parking situation. Although it’s the closest residence hall to the infamous AV14, it’s still more than 5 minutes on foot to the parking lot.
