Galena Hall

This four-story residence hall is conveniently located behind the Student Recreation Complex and is located in the heart of campus. Because of it’s location directly next to the Sinclair School of Nursing and the School of Health Professions, many medical students choose this location for campus living. Galena Hall is open to all students and is popular because of its spacious rooms and convenient location. This hall is also open over all academic breaks, so the cost is a little bit higher than most other halls on campus.

Galena is home to various Freshman Interest Groups and Learning Communities to suit everyone’s needs.

Galena’s rooms are furnished with a shelf, a set of three drawers, height-adjustable beds and a closet for each resident. There are a mixture of traditional single, traditional double, handicapped accessible and three-person suite-style rooms on each floor. However the single rooms are half the size of a traditional double and don’t leave residents much space for their furniture. The single and double rooms are community style, meaning there is one public restroom with showers, toilets and sinks, but handicapped and suite style rooms have their own bathrooms with the same accommodations. The first, second and fourth floors are co-ed, but the third floor is a women’s floor.

Galena’s laundry room is equipped with high efficiency washers and dryers, all of which can be seen on Mizzou LaundryView. Cable and internet are provided in the residence hall, and every room can access MizzouWireless. Although there is not a dining hall in Galena or any of the surrounding residence halls, there is a Mizzou Market within a minute’s walk and Pavilion at Dobbs and Eva J’s dining halls within about a five-minute walk. There is only one kitchen in Galena, which is located on the first floor near the lobby and is equipped with a microwave, plenty of counter space, a stove and oven, a two basin sink and kitchen table. Students have the ability to visit Hawthorn's front desk to borrow cookware if they would like to prepare a home-cooked meal.
