Campus Lodge, located off Stadium on Old 63, is an ideal location for any student ready to move off-campus. It offers many amenities without too much extra stress. All of the apartments are furnished with a hunter’s lodge theme. Each apartment has four bedrooms and four bathrooms.
The bedrooms are decently spacious, but a full size bed, large desk and nightstand take up most of the floor. The rooms do not have a dresser. Each room has a closet but only two rooms in the apartment have a walk-in closet. The bathrooms are spacious with plenty of room to get ready, but there is only a small cabinet; someone with a lot of toiletries will want to buy a set of drawers. The kitchen is not large but it includes all major appliances: a microwave, refrigerator, stove and dishwasher. The living area is furnished with a small kitchen table, chairs, a couch, a coffee table and a 42-inch flat-screen TV. Each apartment has a laundry closet with a washer and dryer. Campus Lodge has Ethernet ports but does not provide Wi-Fi; residents must buy their own routers.
Rent is $425 per person per month, but it is increasing to $440 next fall. This fee includes a utility cap. Basically, residents’ utilities are paid for unless they go over that cap, so residents do not have to worry about paying the city of Columbia at a separate time.
Campus Lodge currently offers a shuttle to campus that leaves twice an hour, which can help save money on gas. Depending on the traffic, it takes about 10 minutes to load on the shuttle and get to the MU Student Center.
The Lodge has a 24-hour key-in access gym in its main building equipped with treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes and weightlifting machines. The treadmills and ellipticals are older models.
The main office also has a computer lab with a printer, but residents must provide their own paper. The Lodge also offers complimentary tanning beds, a pool table and a foosball table. An outdoor pool open during the warm seasons.
The apartments are nestled between major streets, Stadium Boulevard and Grindstone Parkway, keeping traffic fairly light. Shopping centers such as Walmart, Hy-Vee and Kohl’s are only a short drive away along with restaurants like Andy’s Frozen Custard, Buffalo Wild Wings and HuHot Mongolian Grill. Sky Hi Grill and Pickleman’s are within walking distance of the apartments.
One main complaint is the quality of maintenance. It sometimes takes residents a while to have things fixed.
